Demisemiquaver
One of the shortest time values used in musical notation, worth an eighth of a crotchet beat.
Triplet Demisemiquavers
Three triplet demisemiquavers are played in the same amount of time as two demisemiquavers or one semiquaver.
Compound Time
Time signatures where each beat is a dotted note divided into three, such as 6/8 time.
Duple Time Signature
A time signature with two beats in a bar.
Ties
Used to join notes that go across different beats; not used to join notes within a beat.
E Major
A major key with 4 sharps (F#, C#, G#, D#).
Melodic Minor Scale
A scale where the 6th and 7th degrees are raised by a semitone when ascending, and lowered when descending.
Perfect Interval
Intervals that are the same in major and minor keys, such as the 4th, 5th, and octave.
Tonic Triad
A chord consisting of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th degrees of the scale.
Minor Intervals
Intervals above the tonic that contain notes found in the harmonic or melodic minor scale, but not in the major scale.
