What are growth patterns in broth useful for?
They can provide useful information when attempting to identify bacteria because bacterial genera and often individual species have characteristic broth growth patterns.
What is uniform fine turbidity (UFT)?
Growth that makes the broth evenly cloudy throughout.
What is flocculent growth?
Growth that appears as suspended chunks or pieces in the broth.
What is a pellicle?
A membrane or film of microbial growth floating at the surface of the broth.
What is sediment?
Microbial growth that collects at the bottom of the broth.
What is a ring in broth growth?
Growth concentrated around the top edge of the broth.
