friction
a force opposes the motion of another object; making the object slow down. Will create heat.

gravity
A force of attraction between objects that is due to their masses.

mass
the measure of the amount of matter in an object

matter
Anything that has mass and takes up space

acceleration/force relationship
the more force you apply, the greater the acceleration

acceleration/mass relationship
the greater the mass, the more force necessary to get an object to accelerate

weight
is a measure of gravitational force between earth and an object

speed
distance over time

velocity
speed in a given direction

acceleration
change in velocity

balanced forces
Forces equal in magnitude and opposite in direction resulting in an object NOT changing speed or direction

unbalanced forces
Forces unequal in magnitude and opposite in direction resulting in an object changing speed or direction

Inertia
resistance to change in motion

force
A push or pull that changes the motion of an object

Distance
The length of a path between two points

Newton's Second Law
The force of an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration.
acceleration/mass relationship
the greater the mass of the object, the more force necessary to get an object to accelerate
Newton's First Law
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
