ECO 2302 Course Description

Introduction to principles of economics and decision making at the individual firm, consumer, and industry level; resource allocation and the price system; demand and supply theory, theory of production and profit maximization; and interaction of demand and supply.

Weekly Quizzes

Course assessments worth 15% of the final grade, normally due Friday at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, assessing course policies, terminology, graphs, and assigned chapter concepts.

Weekly Problem Sets

Course assessments worth 20% of the final grade, normally due Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, emphasizing graphical, numerical, and applied problem-solving.

Applied Microeconomics Project

A 10% course assessment requiring the submission of two files (a Word document with typed answers and an individualized Excel workbook showing calculations and formulas) through Blackboard by December 1 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

Midterm Examination

An online exam worth 25% of the final grade covering Chapters 1-6, available October 9-11.

Comprehensive Final Examination

A cumulative exam worth 30% of the final grade administered December 2-8, with greater emphasis on Chapters 7, 10, 11, and 13-17.

Plagiarism

The act of presenting the words, ideas, or images of another as your own without proper credit or citation.

Incomplete Grade Criteria

A temporary status granted when a student completes 90% of assigned coursework, is passing, signs an Incomplete Grade Contract, and cannot finish due to an accident, illness, or traumatic personal/family event after the withdrawal date.

Hybrid Course

A distance education course in which more than 50 percent but less than 100 percent of instructional activity takes place when the student(s) and instructor(s) are in separate physical locations.

100-Percent Online Course

A distance education course in which 100 percent of instructional activity takes place when the student(s) and instructor(s) are in separate physical locations.
