Comic Book Brochure
A visual or multimodal text combining drawings, colorful pictures, and comic dialogue inside a folded paper or brochure to share information, tell a story, or present an advocacy.
Comic Strip (Komiks Strip)
A graphic medium consisting of dialogue, words, and pictures that tell a story, composed of one or more pictures giving meaning to the text.
Pagong at Matsing
The comic written by Dr. Jose Rizal, who is considered the first Filipino to write a comic, published in Trubner's Record in 1884 in Europe.
Telembang and Lipang Kalabaw
Two Tagalog magazines in which the first series of Filipino comics appeared in the early 1920s as page fillers.
Halakhak Komiks
The first regularly published comic magazine in the Philippines, released in 1946.
Pilipino Komiks
A Filipino comic magazine released in 1947 under the management of Tony Vasquez.
Kuwadro (Panels)
The space in a comic strip that contains a scene, typically in the shape of a box.
Gutter
The space between panels (kuwadro) in a comic strip.
Character Illustration (Illustrasyon ng Tauhan)
Drawn pictures of the characters featured in the story.
Sound Effects (Element of Comic Strip)
Imitation of the sounds produced by an event or action made by a character.
Caption Box (Kahon ng Salaysay)
A box that provides information about the scene and contains short narrative text.
Speech Bubble (Lobo ng Usapan / Dayalogo)
A bubble in various shapes where character dialogue and conversation are written.
Thought Bubble (Lobo ng Isipan)
A shape of bubble where the internal thoughts of a character are written.
Line (Technical Visual)
Considered the simplest and most universal creation in technical visuals, serving as a mark showing direction or motion.
Color (Technical Visual)
An element of art that can be bright or pale, originating in nature from sunlight.
Space (Technical Visual)
The distance or gap between each object in an artwork, which is as important as the shape of the drawn objects.
Image (Technical Visual)
The expression or use of the creative imaginative ability of human imagination.
Size (Technical Visual)
Refers to the entire space occupied by art, characterized by length, thickness, and width.
Form / Texture (Anyo - Technical Visual)
An element that primarily appeals to the sense of touch, representing the quality or characteristic of materials used in art.
Ang Araw ni Marco
A six-panel comic strip narrative about Marco waking up on a Saturday, losing power during a storm, seeing a rainbow, and playing outside with friends.
