The Inner Core
The inner core is the last layer. The inner core is made out of iron and nickel.
Mantle
The mantle lies under the crust. The mantle is the largest layer. It is made of molten or semi-molten rock called magma
Crust
The outer core is semi solid. It surrounds the inner core.
Outer Core
The outer core is semi solid. It surrounds the inner core.
SIMA
Rich in silica and magnesium
SILA
Rich in silica and aluminium
Pangaea
The original supercontinent that had all land joined together
Continental Drift
Continental drift states that all Earth's landmasses were once joined together as a supercontinent called Pangaea
Asthenosphere
The layer of mantle under the lithosphere
Moho Line
The moho line is the boundary between the upper mantle and the crust
Seafloor Spreading
When the plates come apart underwater, lava comes out and lava cools in the seawater, and forms more crust that becomes the more seafloor
Gutenberg Discontinuity
Where the lower mantle meets the outer core
Continental Fit
All the continents could be pieced back together like a jigsaw puzzle
Alfred Wegener
The man who developed the theory of plate tectonics
Harry Hess
The man who discovered that mid-ocean ridges form when plates separate due to thermal convection currents
Convection Currents
What makes the plates move
Divergent/Constructive Plate Boundary
Boundary where plates separate
Convergent/Constructive Plate Boundary
Plate boundary where plates come together
Transform Plate Boundary
Boundary where plates slide against each other
