Irony
The opposite of what is expected; can be expressed through actions or words.
Verbal Irony
When someone says one thing but means the opposite, often through sarcasm.
Situational Irony
When a situation turns out to be the opposite of what one thought or is unexpected.
Dramatic Irony
When the audience knows something that a character does not, creating tension.
Example of Situational Irony
A fire station that burns down.
Example of Dramatic Irony
In Beauty and the Beast, the audience knows the beast is a prince, but Belle does not.
