Bedpan

Device for receiving feces or urine from a PT who is confined to bed

Canthus

Angle at the medial & lateral margins of the eyelid. (Inner & Outer corners of the eye)

Cerumen

Yellow or brownish waxy secretion produced by vestigial apocrine sweat glands in the external ear canal

Circumorbital

Around the orbit; often refering to the eye

Dentures

Artificial teeth not permanently fixed or impanted

Body temp above normal

Labia Majora

Two large folds of tissue extending from the mons pubis to perineal floor

Labia Minora

Smaller fold of tissue covered by the labia majora

A group of techniques that inhibit the growth & spread of pathogenic microorganisms. Sometimes referred to as clean technique

Modified Left Prone Recumbent (Sims) Position

The PT lies on the side with knee & thigh drawn upward toward the chest

Pressure Injury

Tissue Ischemia from unrelieved pressure resulting in skin breakdown

Syncope

A loss of consciousness due to inadequate blood flow to the brain

When the lumen of the blood vessel narrows, hindering blood flow

Vasodilation

When the lumen of the blood vessel widens, increasing blood flow
