Parsecond (Parsec)
An astronomical unit of length used to measure large distances to objects outside the Solar System.

A unit of length, roughly the distance from the Earth to the Sun.
Significant figures
The digits in a measured quantity that include all certain digits plus the first uncertain digit, indicating the degree of precision.
Least count
The smallest value that can be measured by a measuring instrument, corresponding to the minimum division on its scale.
Precision
The consistency or repeatability of measurements; it is directly related to the number of significant figures.
Accuracy
How close a measured value is to the true value of the physical quantity.
Maximum error in addition
The sum of the absolute errors in the individual quantities, given by ΔR=ΔA+ΔB.
Systematic errors
Errors that can be minimized by proper calibration of instruments, using high-quality apparatus, and eliminating personal bias.
Least count error
The error associated with the resolution of the instrument; for a standard geometry box scale, this value is typically 0.1cm or 1mm.
