How does air pressure change with height
Air pressure decreases as altitude increases because there is less air above you pushing down. Air pressure is greatest at sea level and decreases with height.

Temperature increases with height in the stratosphere because ozone absorbs the Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation, heating the air.
what is radiation and what does wavelength measure
Radiation is energy traveling as electromagnetic waves — the only form of heat transfer that needs no medium, which is how sunlight crosses empty space to reach Earth.

Shortwave radiation: High-energy radiation coming from the Sun to Earth, mainly visible light and UV.
Longwave radiation: Lower-energy infrared (heat) radiation emitted from Earth back toward space.

When snow melts, albedo decreases because darker surfaces absorb more sunlight instead of reflecting it.
Snow melts → lower albedo → more sunlight absorbed → more warming
why can melting sea ice lead to additional warming?
Melting sea ice causes more warming because it lowers albedo. Dark ocean water absorbs more sunlight than bright ice, causing more heating and more ice to melt.
Ice melts → lower albedo → more sunlight absorbed → more warming.
