Support sources, occupation, preoperative pain assessment, self-concept, cultural and spiritual factors
Informed consent guidelines
Must be done before patient receives sedation. Protect patient privacy by avoiding inappropriate discussions and social media use.
Health promotion for preoperative patients
Preoperative teaching, routines, surgical procedure, time of surgery, postoperative unit and family location, anticipated monitoring and therapies, sensory preparation, activity resumption, pain-relief measures, feelings regarding surgery
Acute care implementation focuses
Minimizing risk for surgical wound infection, maintaining normal fluid and electrolyte balance, and preventing bowel incontinence and contamination.
Preparation on the day of surgery involves
Hygiene, hair and cosmetics preparation, prosthesis removal, safeguarding valuables, bowel and bladder preparation, vital signs, DVT prevention, administering preoperative medications, documentation and hand-off, and eliminating wrong site/procedure surgery.

Types of anesthesia
