Trapezius

O: Superior nuchal line, External occipital protuberance, Ligamentum nuchae, Spinous processes C7-T12

Insertion: Superior- Posterior surface of lateral 1/3 of clavicle and acromion

Middle- Acromion and spine of scapula
Inferior- Medial 1/3 spine of scapula

Action: retraction and upward rotation of scapula

Upper fibers: elevate scapula

Lower fibers: upwardly rotate and depress scapula

Innervation: Spinal Accessory Nerve (CN XI)

Levator Scapulae

Origin: Transverse process of C1-4

Insertion: Superior angle of scapula

Action: Elevation and downward rotation of scapula

Innervation: Dorsal scapular nerve

Rhomboid Minor & Major

Origin:

Minor- Spinous processes of C7-T1

Major: Spinous processes of T2-T5

Insertion: Vertebral border of scapula from root of scapular spine to inferior angle

Action: Elevation, retraction, and downward rotation of scapula

Innervation: dorsal scapular nerve

Serratus Anterior

Origin: lateral aspect of upper 8 or 9 ribs

Insetion: Rib surface of verterbral border of scapula

Action: protraction and upward rotation

Innervation: long thoracic nerve

Pectoralis Minor

O: Anterior aspects of ribs 3-5

A: Depression of Scapula

I: Medial and Lateral pectoral n.

Pectoralis Major

O: Clavicle head- Medial clavicle

Sternal head- Sternum and costal cartilage of upper 6 ribs

I: Lateral lip of intertubercular groove

A: Adduction and internal rotation
