Vastus Lateralis (origin only)

Gluteal tuberosity & greater trochanter

Biceps Femoris (origin only)

Ischial tuberosity (long head)

Semitendinosus (origin only)

Ischial tuberosity

Gluteus Maximus

Origin = coccyx, edge of sacrum, posterior iliac crest, & scrotuberous and sacroiliac ligaments

Insertion =

• Upper Fibers = iliotibial tract

• Lower Fibers = gluteal tuberosity

Gluteus Medius

Origin = gluteal surface of ilium, between anterior & inferior gluteal lines, just below iliac crest

Insertion = lateral aspect of greater trochanter

Gluteus Minimus

Origin = gluteal surface of ilium, between anterior & inferior gluteal lines

Insertion = anterior aspect of greater trochanter

Piriformis

Origin = anterior surface of sacrum

Insertion = superior aspect of greater trochanter

Gemellus Superior

Origin = ischial spine

Insertion = medial surface of greater trochanter

Obturator Internus

Origin = obturator membrane & inferior surface of obturator foramen

Insertion = medial surface of greater trochanter

Gemellus Inferior

Origin = ischial tuberosity

Insertion = medial surface of greater trochanter

Obturator Externus

Origin = rami of pubis and ischium & obturator membrane

Insertion = trochanteric fossa of femur

Quadratus Femoris

Origin = lateral border of ischial tuberosity

Insertion = intertrochanteric crest & between greater and lesser trochanters

Tensor Fascia Latae

Origin = iliac crest (posterior to ASIS)

Insertion = iliotibial tract

Sartorius

Origin = anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)

Insertion = proximal medial shaft of tibia at Pes Anserinus tendon

Psoas Major

Origin = bodies & TPs of lumbar vertebrae

Insertion = lesser trochanter

Psoas Minor

Origin = body & TP of 1st lumbar vertebra

Insertion = superior ramis of pubis

Iliacus

Origin = iliac fossa

Insertion = lesser trochanter

combination of iliacus & psoas major

Pectineus

Origin = superior ramus if pubis

Insertion = pectineal line

Adductor Brevis

Origin = inferior ramus of pubis

Insertion = pectineal line & medial lip of linea aspera

Adductor Longus

Origin = pubic tubercle

Insertion = pectineal line & medial lip of linea aspera

Adductor Magnus

Origin = inferior ramus of pubis, ramus of ischium, & ischial tuberosity

Insertion = medial lip of linea aspera & adductor tubercle

Gracilis

Origin = inferior ramus of pubis

Insertion = proximal medial shaft of tibia at Pes Anserinus tendon
