The process cells use to release energy from nutrients and produce ATP.

A positively charged subatomic particle.
Neutron
A subatomic particle with no charge.

A negatively charged subatomic particle.

Property determined by the number of protons in an element.
Acid
A substance with a pH below 7 on the pH scale.
Neutral pH
A pH value equal to 7.
Base
A substance with a pH above 7 on the pH scale.

A change that creates one or more new substances.

The substance being dissolved.
Solvent
The substance that dissolves the solute.

Two or more atoms chemically bonded together.

Semicolon
Punctuation used to connect two closely related independent clauses (e.g., I studied all night; I was exhausted).

Acronym for coordinating conjunctions: For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So.

Punctuation used when joining two complete independent clauses (e.g., I studied, but I was tired).
