Experiment

is any action or process that generates data

Sample Space

Set of all possible outcomes of an experiment

Sample Point or Element

Each outcome in a sample space

Roster Method

Used if the sample space has a finite number of sample points, we may list the elements separated by commas and enclosed brackets.

The Statement of Rule Method

The sample has a large or infinite number of sample points, describe by a statement or a rule method.

Events

Any collection (subset) of outcomes in the sample space.

Permutation 

Is an arrangement of all or part of a group of objects or elements. 

Combination

Is the number of ways of selecting r objects from n without regard of order.

Certainty

Positiveness

0 <= P(A) <= 1

Certainty

P(S) = 1 , the probability of a sure event

Conditional Probability

P(A|B) means the probability of A occurring given that B happens.

Multiplicative Rule

If Both A and B can both occur.

Independent Events

A & B are independent

P(A^B) = P(A) * P(B)
