Ligaments

Separate bundles of connective fibrous tissue whose ends are fixed on two bones of a joint; they connect bones together, determine movement in different directions, and hold joints in proper alignment.

Ligament Fibers

Connective tissue fibers characterized by firmness and a degree of elasticity that allows a minor increase in length to prevent cutting or tearing under external pressure.

Cruciate Ligament Rupture

A ligament injury in the knee joint caused by twisting or uncontrolled movement.

Joint Stability

The state maintained by ligaments holding joints together to prevent unwanted or damaging movement.

Synovial Joints

The most common type of joints in the human body.

Femur

The thigh bone articulating at the knee joint.

Facet Joints

Specific joints depicted along the vertebral column structure.
