ATP
Main energy molecule used by cells for metabolic processes
Aerobic Respiration
Respiration that uses oxygen to make ATP
Long activties : walking , Hiking : more ATP
Processes of Aerobic Respiration
1 . Gycolysis
break down glucose → Pyruvate
Location : Cytoplasm
Citric Acid Cycle
Continues breaking down glucose products and makes energy carriers
Location : Mitochondria
Oxidative phosphorylation
Produces the most ATP
Uses the Electron Transport Chain ( ETC)
Location : Inner mitochondrial membrane
Anaerobic Respiration
Respiration that occurs without oxygen
Powerfull activities : Sprinting, jumping, chasing: Less ATP
Electron Transport Chain
Moves electron (e-) and H+ ions to create a chemical gradient
Chemiosmosis :
Uses the H+ gradient to make ATP
