Standard patient position in which the patient is seated in a semi–sitting position (45-60 degrees)
Semi-Fowlers
Positioned on their back with the head and trunk raised to between 15 and 45 degrees
Sims
The patient lies on their left side, with right hip and knees bent.
Prone
Lies flat with the chest down and the back up
Supine
Means lying horizontally with the face and torso facing up, as opposed to the prone position, which is face down
Abduction
Movement of a limb away from the midline of the body
Adduction
Movement of a limb toward the midline of the body
