Why are we saved?
Because God loves us and wants to restore His relationship with us

What does the Moral Example/Moral Influence theory state?
We are lost in our sin but Jesus has come to show us the way out (Moral Example); He inspires us to live holy as He is holy (Moral Influence)
What does the Penal Substitution theory state?
We are guilty and deserving of punishment but Jesus has come and taken the punishment on our behalf so that we might be free
What does the Governmental theory state?
Sin has broken God's laws and thus ruined the Ideal society and relationships that God has designed for us all. Jesus came to show us the ultimate consequences if we continue and the Father determined that His demonstration is enough
What does the Satisfaction theory state?
Our sin is an offense against the honor of a holy and righteous God. We are incapable of making "satisfaction" and so Jesus has come to do so in our place

Our sin has enslaved us to Satan and the Ransom for freedom is a price we could never pay. Jesus became that ransom but sin and death could never truly hold Him
