Edward IV

1475: Treaty of Picquigny Louis XI paid Edward £15,000 upfront and an annual pension of £10,000- helped Edward secure his hold on the throne financially. Meant that Edward did not have to appeal for taxation until 1482

Spanish marriage 1501: Marriage of Prince Arthur and Catherine of Aragon in 1501- new political ally and increasing success in his foreign policy
However: Arthur died in 1502- Spain not best ally for England as it did not grant England the most stability- better to go for France.
