Canine parvovirus (parvo)

-Highly infectious viral disease

-Mainly effects puppies

-Affects intestinal lining, immune system and heart muscle

-Symptoms are

1.Bloody/dark diarrhoea

2.Loss of appetite

3.Lethargy

4.Fever and vomiting

Canine Distemper

-Highly contagious viral disease

-Spread by infected dogs sneezing and coughing out droplets.

-Can be inhaled or ingested

-Symptoms include

1.Nasal discharge

2.Coughing

3.Pneumonia

4.Fits/seizures

Canine Adenovirus

-Contagious infectious disease

-Spread in body fluids

-Infects mouth/nose and spreads to kidneys

-Symptoms can include

1.fever,

lethargy,

loss of appetite,

coughing,

sore abdomen

Kennel Cough

-Covers a group of diseases that cause upper airway inflammation

-Sudden onset of a deep hacking cough without any other signs of illness or discomfort.

-Fits of coughing, especially after exercise, gagging and retching and vocal changes.

Rabies

-Caused when an infected animal bites a non infected.

-virus enters the nervous system, then eventually spreads.

- symptoms such as headache, confusion, agitation, insomnia, excessive drooling, fear of water, coma and then death.

Leptospirosis

-Caused by bacteria, animals come into contact with infected urine.

-Zoonotic

-Affects liver and kidneys in particular

Lyme disease

Transmitted by ticks

The dog may start limping, develop a fever, stop eating, and its lymph nodes (glands) may swell.
