Jeans
Trousers made from denim or dungaree cloth, originally designed as durable trousers for farm workers and miners.
Blue Jeans
A particular style of trousers invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873.
Denim
The specific fabric used to make clothes, which can include pants, skirts, or jackets.
Indigo
The dye traditionally used for jeans because it does not go through the cloth like other dyes.
Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&CO)
A privately held American clothing company founded in 1873 and known worldwide for its Levi's brand of denim jeans.
U.S. Patent of 1873
The patent received by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis to make the first riveted men's work pants out of denim.
USP (Unique Selling Proposition)
A marketing feature that differentiates a brand, such as Levi's being the oldest jeans brand or Pepe Jeans being innovative and stylish at an affordable price.

A denim and casual wear brand established in the Portobello Road area of London in 1973 by Nitin, Arun, and Milan Shah.

A weave using uniform yarns that is considered more rugged.
Left Hand Twill
A weave that runs diagonally, resulting in a softer and loftier feel.

The most popular type of denim that results in a consistent yarn thickness.
Dirty Denim
Denim where filler yarns are brown instead of natural, giving the fabric a "dirty" appearance.
Stonewashed
A process using enzymes, sand, or ceramic balls to give jeans a worn look, replacing the original method of using pumice stones.
Flares
Jeans that are slim through the legs and flare right above the ankle to an opening of about 21+ inches.
Bellbottoms
Jeans that start to flare at the knee, resulting in a 22+ inch leg opening.
Peg Legs
Jeans with an extremely narrow leg opening, popular in the 1980s.
Boot Cut
Jeans slim through the legs with a slight flare at the ankle (16-18 inch opening) to accommodate a boot.
