What are anatomical planes?

Imaginary 2D surfaces that divide the body into sections

Sagittal plane

Runs the length of the body and divides it into left and right parts that are equal

Median Plane

A special sagittal plane that runs down the exact center of the body length wise and divides it into equal left and right halves

Transverse Plane

Passes across the body or limb perpendicular to the long axis dividing it into the cranial and the caudal ends of the body unlimited amount of times

Dorsal Plane

Lies and right angles to the sagittal and transverse planes and divides the body into dorsal and ventral parts not necessarily equal

What are the two main body cavities

Doral and Ventral
