Escalation of Force
The increase to a higher force level.

The decrease to a lower force level.

You are ready to take action; move in.
Color Code Black
Don't Panic; Tunnel Vision; assault initiated.

Be mentally prepared, physically prepared, know sound tactics, confidence in shooting skill, maintain quality equipment

Protection from gunfire or other projectiles.
7 Deadly Sins
Murder,Rape, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Voluntary Manslaughter
Safety After the Incident
Clean all items with 10% bleach/water, Flush OC contaminated skin/eyes with water, Seek immediate attention for injuries, Talk about critical incidents with someone/ Control Stress
Handcuffing
Don’t over tighten/Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Once the cuffs are on and the threat is no longer present it’s over, Always double lock, Complete your search after the perp is cuffed
Concealment
Hiding from view but not necessarily providing protection.

Deadly Force
OC Spray is rated by:
Scoville Heat Unit-based on peppers
Level 4 Force
Intermediate Weapons, Soft: OC Spray, Taser. Hard: Baton, PR-24, Less Lethal
Level 3 Force
Empty Hand Control, Soft: Joint Locks, Pressure Points. Hard: Leg and Knee Strikes, Palm Heel and Closed fist
consequences of unjustified force
Criminal charges, civil liability, departmental sanctions, inner moral conflict
Level 2 Force
Verbal Directions/Control, Heavy Control Talk, Light Control Talk, Search talk
Use of Force
Revert to training, officers are reactionary, use minimal force
