Interphase- stage
Stage of growth and replication
G1- gap 1 phase
Cell grows and makes a new set of proteins and organelles for daughter cells
S- synthesis phase
Cellular DNA is replicated and the two daughter cells each get one set of DNA. Genetic material is checked too.
G2- gap 2 phase
Cell growth continues and there is a synthesis of special proteins in preparation for mitosis
Mitosis- stage
The cell splits its DNA and organelles into 2 identical daughter cells
Cytokinesis- stage
The cell completely divides into 2 daughter cells
How many phases are in interphase?
3
How many phases are in mitosis?
4
During which phase does the size of the cell increase?
G1 and G2
During which stage does one cell become two cells?
Cytokinesis
When does the cell split its DNA into two daughter cells?
Mitosis
When does the cell make new organelles?
Gap 1
When does the cell replicate its DNA?
Synthesis
What are the 4 stages of mitosis?
Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase
Cytokinesis starts when mitosis occurs. When in mitosis does cytokinesis start?
Anaphase
