Attract/Converse/Transact (ACT) Model
A framework for creating designs that improve user-product relationships and intentionally trigger emotional responses through aesthetics (Attract), interaction (Converse), and function (Transact).
Attract
The aesthetics-oriented part of the ACT model — focuses on how a product looks and appeals visually to attract users.
Converse
The interaction-oriented part of the ACT model — focuses on how users interact with the product, improving usability and engagement.
Transact
The function-oriented part of the ACT model — focuses on how the product performs and fulfills its intended purpose.
Four-Pleasure Framework
A design framework that focuses on creating emotional and pleasurable experiences through four types of pleasure: socio-, physio-, psycho-, and ideo-pleasures.
Socio-pleasure
Pleasures derived from social interaction, belonging, and identification with groups or communities.
Physio-pleasure
Pleasures from sensory experiences such as touch, smell, sound, or taste, and satisfaction from effective product use.
Psycho-pleasure
Pleasures related to cognition, discovery, and intellectual satisfaction, such as learning or problem-solving.
Ideo-pleasure
Pleasures linked to personal ideals, values, culture, or aesthetics, reflecting what an individual believes in or aspires to.
Usability
The ease and efficiency with which a product can be used by its intended users (see B1.1 User-centred design).
