Moles/amount of substance
mass/molar mass
mass (g)
moles x molar mass
concentration
n = cv
where n = no. of moles
c = concentration (mol/dm³ or mol/L)
v = volume in dm³ or L
using mass and conc. :
ex: calculate the mass (g) of NaOH needed to make 50cm³ of NaOH with a conc. of 2mol/dm³.
mass = molecular mass/moles
EX: CALCUALTION
Step 1: find mole using volume x conc.
mole = 0.05 (50 divided by 1000) x 2 = 0.1 mole NaOH
Step 2: Find mass using mole and Mr (molecular mass)
mass = 0.1 × 40 = 4g
Mass = 4g
