What caused the Proclamation of 1763?
After Britain won the war, British settlers moved in west of the Appalachian Mountains, but Native Americans thought it would disrupt their way of life, so they attacked the settlers. By fighting with the colonists, the French tried to win back the land as well.
What was the Proclamation of 1763?
To stop the attacks from Native Americans, Britain created a law, saying Native Americans would have the land west of the Appalachian Mountains returned to them, and settlers were not allowed to move there. This angered colonists because it sounded like Britain was trying to control the colonies.
What did colonists do as protest? What did it cause?
The colonists were angry with this new law, so some of them moved to the west of the Appalachian Mountains anyway as a form of protest. The Native Americans were angry and they started attacking them again.
What did the Proclamation state after the attacks?
The Proclamation responded to the attacks saying that the colonists should’ve fight, the British soldiers should instead. It also stated that if colonists got involved in the battle, they would be killed. Colonists got angry again and disguised themselves as soldiers to fight the native americans.
