Representative Elements

Elements found in Groups 1, 2, and 13 through 18 (labeled IA through VIIIA) of the periodic table.

Transition Elements

Elements located in Groups 3 through 12 (labeled IIIB through IIB) in the central section of the periodic table.

Metals

A major group of elements located on the left and center regions of the periodic table.

Nonmetals

Elements situated predominantly on the upper right side of the periodic table, along with Hydrogen.

Metalloids

Elements located along the diagonal boundary between metals and nonmetals on the periodic table.

SATP

Standard Ambient Temperature and Pressure, used to define the physical state (solid, liquid, or gas) of an element.
