Unicellular
An organism made of one cell.
Diffusion
When particles randomly spread and mix with each other without anything moving them.
Kingdoms
The five groups of which all organisms are divided.
Prokaryotes
Unicellular organisms without a nucleus (e.g. bacteria)
Fungi
Organisms which can be multicellular or unicellular, it does not make its own food. Moulds are an example.
Protoctists
Unicellular organisms with a nucleus - some can produce their own food using photosynthesis.
Budding
A type of asexual reproduction in yeast where a new small cell grows out from a parent cell.
Anaerobic respiration in yeast cells
glucose --> carbon dioxide + ethanol
Photosynthesis
Carbon dioxide + water --> glucose + oxygen
Example of a prokaryote
E. coli bacteria
Asexual reproduction in bacteria
Binary fission
A food we use bacteria to make
Yoghurt
Animals, plants, fungi, and protoctists all have…
A nucleus
Sexual reproduction
Two parents combine their genetic material to produce an offspring that is not identical to them.
Asexual reproduction
One parents produces an offspring that is a clone (the same) as the parent.
Fertilisation
Male and female gametes fuse together.
We use _ from fermentation to make bread
Carbon dioxide
We use _ from fermentation to make wine
Ethanol (alcohol)
