Cranial cavity

The cavity along the back of the body. It includes the cranial cavity and vertebral cavity

Thoracic cavity

The chest cavity above the diaphragm. It contains the lungs and the area around the heart

Superior mediastinum

The upper middle part of the chest between the lungs

Pleural cavity

The small space around each lung that helps the lungs move smoothly during breathing

Pericardial cavity within the mediastinum

The small space around the heart that helps protect it and lets it move smoothly as it beats

A large breathing muscle under the lungs that separates the chest cavity from the abdominal cavity

Abdominal cavity

The cavity below the diaphragm that contains organs such as the stomach, liver, spleen, and intestines

Pelvic cavity

The cavity inside the pelvis that contains organs such as the bladder, reproductive organs, and rectum

Abdominopelvic cavity

The large cavity below the diaphragm that includes both the abdominal cavity and pelvic cavity

The large cavity on the front side of the body. It includes the thoracic cavity and abdominopelvic cavity
