Formula unit
The smallest whole number ratio of ions present in an ionic crystal that leads to a neutral formula unit.
Acids
Compounds that get named using special acid rules.
Bases
Inorganic compounds that get named simply as ionic compounds.
Anion
An ion whose ending gets changed to an I suffix after dropping letters from the parent element name, without using a prefix to identify how many are present.
Roman numerals
Capital Roman numerals placed in parentheses at the end of the cation name (followed by a space) when cations have unknown oxidation.
