Law of Conservation of Energy

Energy cannot be created or destroyed it can only be converted from one form to another.

Fission

Occurs when a large nucleus is impacted by a netron and splits the nucleus into two or more smaller nuclei.

Fusion

Occurs when two smaller nuclei collide with a large amount of energy to form a single large nucleus. (only occurs on the sun)

Endothermic Reaction

Heat is absorbed from surroundings

Exothermic reaction

Heat is released to the surroundings

Conduction

Transfers thermal energy through direct contact and only happens through solids

Convection

Transfers thermal energy by the movement of fluids

Radiation

Transfers thermal energy through electromagnetic waves

Thermal Equilibrium

Heat will continue to flow from the hotter object to the cooler until both objects have the same temperature
