Coarse Adjustment Knob

a smaller dial used to make tiny, precise changes to the distance between the specimen and the lens for a sharp, clear image

a physical safety limit on a microscope that stops the stage from moving too close to the objective lens

Curved vertical spine used to safely carry the microscope.
Arm

Flat platform where the glass slide is placed.
Stage

Heavy bottom foundation that provides stability.
Base

Metal clips holding a slide steady if a mechanical stage is absent.

Condenser Lens

Rotating disk or lever under the stage controlling the cone and amount of light.
Iris Diaphragm

The power switch controls the electricity flowing to the microscope's internal light bulb

Ring on binocular eyepieces to correct differences between the user's eyes.
