regionalism theory suggest that a centralised federal body exercise power, acting on behalf of the regional bloc, I therefore advocates supra-nationalism and deeper economic and political integration . like the EU

How does federalisation compare to devolution in a unitary state ?

Federal - your work together to cooperate on ideas all equal and more each state has more sovereignty

devolution not all equal - being told what to do by the state less sovereignty power is watered down

initially with 6 countries (Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Syria with Yemen joining a few months later)

now has 22 members, but Syria is currently suspended
