NSAIDs
Heartburn, gas, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea
Severe: ulcers, stomach bleeding, kidney damage, blood clots
Depressants/Sedatives
Forgetfulness, amnesia, drowsiness, dizziness
Severe: Respiratory depression (slurred speech, blue lips)
Opioids
Constipation, nausea, vomiting, itching
Serotonin Agents
Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headache
Severe: Serotonin Syndrome (changes in mood, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, twitching, sweating, rigid muscles)
Blood Thinners
bruising, prolonged bleeding
Severe: Non Stop bleeding, severe headache/stomach ache, bruising without an injury, coughing up blood
Antihistamines
First generation antihistamines can cause dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, confusion, inability to urinate
Statins
Muscle pain
Severe: Rhabdomyolysis (breaking down of muscle tissue)
ACEi
low blood pressure, non life threatening cough
Severe: Extreme swelling of deep tissues (angioedema)
High risk for electrolyte changes
Anticholinergics
dry eyes, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, mood changes, inability to urinate
Acetaminophen
Maximum daily dose is 3000 mg over the counter due to risk of liver injury
Electrolytes/Vitamins
Magnesium: diarrhea
Aluminum: constipation
Iron: constipation, gas, bloating
Niacin: flushing
