nansen bottle

used to collet water samples at depth

secchi disk

to estimate the transparency of the water

Tritation apparatus

equipment used to measure and mix solutions in a titration process.

plankton net

used to catch plankton and small organisms

trawl

type of net used for fishing, dragged through water to catch fish.

seine

large fishing net that is cast around an area and then pulled in to catch fish.

drift bottle

a bottle with a message inside that is set adrift to be found by someone else.

corer

tool used to collect samples of sediment or soil from the seafloor.

piston corer

tool used to extract a core sample of sediment from the seafloor by using a piston mechanism to push a sample tube into the sediment.
