Solving Quadratics
Factorise the Equation and then find the value of x which makes each function equal to 0.
Quadratic Formula
The formula used to solve quadratic equations which cannot be easily factorised.
x=-b +- ROOT(B² - 4ac) / 2a.
Completing the Square
(x + b/2)² - (b/2)².
Domain
The set of possible inputs to a function.
Range
The set of possible outputs from a function.
Roots
The values of x within a function where the result of the function is 0.
Turning Point
The coordinate at which a quadratic parabola turns and travels the other direction (gradient crosses 0).
Discriminant
The value under the square root within the quadratic formulae, it shows the number of real roots an equation has.
Mathematic Model
A mathematical description of a real life situation, used to predict future changes.
