what is the difference between spondylosis and spondylolysis?
spondylosis is loss of disc height often from aging- degeneration of disc
spondylolysis: defect in the pars interarticularis
what is the difference between spondylolisthesis and retrolisthesis?
spondylolisthesis: anterior splippage of the disc
retrolisthesis: posterior slippage of the disc
what actions will people with the S’s want?
will prefer flexion, will be bothered by extension, standing, and bending to lift objects
what conditions will have a positive straight leg raise?
disc herniation and spinal stensosis
what test is used for spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis, and spondylolysis?
spondylolisthesis: stork test
spinal stenosis: van buergen bicycle test
quadrant test: spondylolysis or facet interruption

should always mobilize posterior to anterior
how do you know whether to do it on the spinous process or transverse process?
spinous process- bilateral pain/ restriction
transverse process- one sided pain/ restriction
what are the directions of movement with rotation and side bending in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine?
cervical and thoracic- same side of rotation and side bending
lumbar- opposite sides of rotation and side bending
