Karl Mannheim
A German sociologist (1893−1947) who wrote the foundational work "The Sociological Problem of Generations."

The demographic cohort born between 1883 and 1900.
Greatest/G.I. Generation
The demographic cohort born between 1901 and 1927.
Silent Generation
The demographic cohort born between 1928 and 1945.
Builders
A category for the generation born between 1925 and 1945 whose leadership style is described as "controlling" and social marker is World War II.
Baby Boomers
The generation born between 1946 and 1964 whose social markers include the 1969 Moon landing and slang like "Groovy" and "Way out."
Generation X
The generation born between 1965 and 1980, known for a "coordinating" leadership style and slang such as "Dude" and "Rad."
Millennials (Generation Y)
