Origin: manubrium of sternum and medial clavicle

Insertion: mastoid process of temporal bone

Movement: flexion of head

Psoas Major

Origin: transverse process and bodies of lumbar vertebrae

Insertion: lesser trochanter of femur

Biceps brachii

Origin: short head- coracoid process of scapula

Long head- supraglenois tubercle of scapula

Insertion: radial tuberosity

Movement: flexion of elbow

Triceps brachii

Origin: long head- infraglenoid tubercle of scapula

Lateral and medial heads- posterior humerus

Insertion: olecranon of the ulna

Movement: extends forearm

Rectus femoris

Origin: anterior inferior iliac spine

Insertion: tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament

Movement: flexes thigh

Biceps femoris

Origin: long head-ischial tuberosity

Short head- linea aspera of femur

Insertion: head of fibula

Movement: extends thigh

Gastrocnemius

Origin: lateral and medial condoles of the femur

Insertion: calcaneous via Achilles tendon

Movement: plantarflexes foot

Tibialis anterior

Origin: lateral condyle and upper 2/3 of tibial shaft

Insertion: medial cuneiform and base of 1st metatarsal

Movement: dorsiflexes foot
