The phylum of fungi that is the simplest and most primitive, with both unicellular and multicellular species, and is the only fungi with flagella.
Zygomycota
The phylum of fungi known as conjugation fungi, which are mostly saprobes and include species like black bread mold. They have coenocytic hyphae and reproduce through asexual sporangia and sexual conjugation.
Glomeromycota
The phylum of fungi that form arbuscular mycorrhizal associations with plant roots and cannot survive without them.
Ascomycota
The phylum of fungi known as sac fungi, which have septate hyphae and reproduce through asexual conidiophores and sexual ascospores contained in sac-like structures called asci. They have economic importance in food, yeast production, and as parasites.
Basidiomycota
