Tell me about yourself

Hi! I’m a recent graduate from UNC Charlotte, and throughout college I really enjoyed working in customer-facing roles. I spent the last few years as both a Resident Advisor and Front Desk Assistant, where I was helping serve, assist, and manage students day-to-day. From these experiences, I consider myself to be creative, organized, and hardworking, but outside of school and work, I like crafts, music, and exploring Charlotte. This fall, I'll be starting my master's program part-time, and I'm looking for an opportunity where I can continue developing my customer service skills, contribute to a positive team, and be part of creating a great experience for others, especially as someone who has always enjoyed fresh fruit and smoothies.

Why do you want to work at Palm Berries?

I've always enjoyed fresh fruit, smoothies, and fruit bowls, so Palm Berries is the kind of place I'd genuinely be excited to work. I'm also really interested in being part of a new location from the beginning. I think it would be rewarding to help create a welcoming atmosphere for customers as the business grows. Since most of my previous experience has been in customer-facing roles, I enjoy interacting with people and helping them have a positive experience.

Tell me about a time you gave good customer service

One example that comes to mind is from when I worked the front desk at UNC Charlotte. We would often have students, parents, or visitors come in looking for a specific building or office on campus. Rather than just giving verbal directions, I would print out a campus map or pull up the online map and walk them through the route step by step. That way they felt confident about where they were going instead of leaving confused. It only took a few extra minutes, but it made the experience much less stressful for them, especially if they were visiting campus for the first time. That experience taught me that good customer service is about taking the extra step to make sure someone leaves with what they actually need.

How do you handle busy situations?

I like to stay organized, prioritize, and focus on what needs immediate attention first. I feel like I have a good amount of experience with busy environments where many people need help at the same time, especially during peak seasons on campus, and over the years I’ve learned to stay relaxed so that everything I’m doing actually gets done currently, communicate and delegate when need, and adapt to things as they come.

Why should we hire you?

I think you'd be getting someone who's dependable, eager to learn, and enjoys working with people. Through my previous work experience, I've become very comfortable helping customers, solving problems, and working as part of a team in busy environments. I also learn new processes quickly and like staying organized. At Smallcakes, I worked in a similar environment where I helped prepare food, blend drinks, and serve customers during busy periods, so I think those experiences would help me transition well into this role.

Availability

My availability is very open both this summer and once classes begin in August. I'm looking for full-time hours and am available to work most days and shifts. I do have evening classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I wouldn't be available those evenings, but aside from that my schedule is very flexible. I also have a preference for morning shifts, though I'm happy to work other shifts as needed.
