Eastern Cottonmouth/ Water Moccasin

Description- A thick, semi-aquatic snake.

Found Near- ponds, lakes, and slow moving rivers

Behavior- aggressive, stand their ground

Traits- white mouth interior (displayed when threatened)

Eastern Diamond Back Rattlesnake

Description- Florida’s largest and most dangerous venomous snake. Also the largest rattlesnake and one of the heaviest snakes in the US

Found Near- Dry sandy pine savanna’s, coastal scrublands, they frequently utilize abandoned Gopher and tortoise holes

Behavior- solitary, non aggressive, highly reclusive, relies on abush and camaflouge to hunt, strikes as last resort when cornered harassed or accidentally stepped on.

Traits- Distinct diamond pattern down its back and a rattle at the tip of its tail

Eastern Coral Snake

Found Near- scrub sand hills, pine woods, mixed hardwood forests, hide in leaf litter or under debris

Behavior- Incredibly shy and secretive, only bite as last resort if stepped on directly provoked

Traits- Highly venomous, thin and worm lookin’, no definitive head lol, yellow red yellow black

Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake

Description- small snake with a tiny rattler that is very difficult to hear

Found Near- marshes, cyprus swamps, banks

Behavior- not very aggressive however very defensive, relies on camouflage

Traits- medically significant hemotoxic venom however rarely fatal due to the low amount of venom injected simply very painful and perhaps leads to dead tissue if not treated

Eastern Garter Snake

DESCRIPTION: Harmless/Non-Venomous, Slender, Active, day-time snake. Harmless but defensive.

TRAITS: Yellow or White stripes running down a green, brown, black

FOUND NEAR: moist grassy environments like meadows or th edges of ponds and streams

Beneficial because they kills slugs, rodents and other pests|

Southern Black Racer

DESCRIPTION: Non-Venomous/ One of the most frequently seen snakes in Florida yards. Move very quickly through grass

TRAITS: Fast, solid black with a white chin, highly active during the day.

Good for Pest Control and can eat small or juvenile venomous snakes

Corn Snake

DESCRIPTION: Reddish-orange with darker splotches

BEHAVIOR: Docile, shy, nocturnal, active climbers and borrowers,

DEFENSE: tail rattling or musk release

One of the friendliest and most docile snakes to have as pets
