What are the solubility rules for group 1A and ammonium salts?
All group 1A and ammonium salts are soluble.
What is the solubility status of nitrates and acetates?
All nitrates and acetates are soluble.
Are phosphates and carbonates soluble?
They are generally insoluble, with the exception of rule 1.
Which sulfides and hydroxides are generally insoluble?
Most sulfides and hydroxides are insoluble, but Ca2+, Sr2+, Ba2+ sulfides and hydroxides are soluble.
What is the solubility status of most sulfates?
Most sulfates are soluble, except for Ca2+, Ba2+, Sr2+, Ag+, Hg22+, Pb2+ sulfates which are insoluble.
What are the exceptions for solubility of most halides?
Ag+, Hg22+, Pb2+ halides are insoluble.
Why is understanding these solubility rules important?
It is necessary for predicting precipitation reactions and may appear on exams or quizzes.
