Like Terms
Terms in an algebraic expression that share the exact same variable components raised to the exact same powers, such as 3m and 2m or 5x and −7x.
Combining Like Terms
The algebraic process of adding or subtracting terms with identical variable parts to condense an expression.
Simplify an Expression
The process of writing an algebraic expression in its simplest form by combining all like terms and performing all possible basic operations.
Evaluate an Expression
Finding the numerical value of a mathematical or algebraic expression by completing operations according to established rules.
PEMDAS
The standard rule defining the order of operations: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division (left to right), and Addition and Subtraction (left to right).
