COMMUNICABLE DSE

illness caused by an infectious agent

transmitted directly/indirectly to a well person through an agency, and a vector or inanimate object.

CONTACT

person/animal associate with an infected person, animal or freshly spoiled materials

being exposed

Contagious disease

• easily transmitted from one person to another through direct/indirect means.

DISINFECTION

• destruction of pathogenic microorganism on inanimate objects by directly applying physical ir chemical means

CONCURRENT

method of disinfection done immediately after the infected individual discharges infectious material/secretions

TERMINAL

complete disinfection when patient is no longer source of the infx

HABITAT

• place where an organism lives or where an organism is usually found

HOST

• a person, animal or plant which a parasite depends for its survival

INFECTIOUS DSE

• transmitted not only by ordinary contact but requires direct inoculation of the organism through break on the skin or mucous membrane

ISOLATION

• separation from the other person of an individual suffering from a communicable dse during the period of communicability

QUARANTINE

• limitation of freedom of movement of a person/animal which have been exposed to communicable dse

• composed of one or more species of animal/plant in which infectious agent normally lives and multiplies for survival
