Why is there cross resistance across the macrolides, lincosamides, and streptogramin B family of antibiotics?
that this is the MLSb resistance phenotype. The primary cause is methylation of A2058, which is near the binding site for all these antibiotics. The fact that they all bind in a similar site is why you see cross resistance despite the vast differences in structures.
