Location: embryonic skeleton, nose, costal cartilage, trachea, larynx, ends of long bones

Fibrocartilage

Function: absorbs compressive shock

Location: intervertebral discs, pubic symphysis, knee discs

Elastic Cartilage

Function: maintains shape but remains flexible

Location: ear, epiglottis
