when was bankside power station built and what is it now?
In 1814 Bankside Gas Works opened on the site of what was to become Bankside Power Station, evidence of this can still be seen today as the Tate Modern. Bankside Power Station began producing electricity in 1891 and carried on for 90 years, until the 1980s.
